Yorkshire really puts us to shame when it comes to film festivals, and this year’s Leeds International Film Festival is no exception. Brace yourself for the massively-popular Fanomenon Day of the Dead XII (Sat 16 Nov, Leeds Town Hall, tickets) among inspired one-offs like the Brothers Hypnotic documentary (Thu 14 Nov, Belgrave Music Hall, 8pm, tickets). Elsewhere in the huge programme, film-lovers can catch previews of mumblecore don Andrew Bujalski’s Computer Chess (Wed 13 Nov, Everyman, Sat 16 Nov, Vue in the Light, tickets), rare screenings of cult favourites Little Fugitive (Sat 16 & Sun 17 Nov, Everyman, tickets) and Santa Sangre (meaning holy blood rather anything to do with our favourite festive guy – Fri 15 Nov, Everyman, 8.30pm, tickets). Leeds Music Video Awards, meanwhile, features a live set from local rockers Hawk Eyes (Mon 18 Nov, Brudenell Social Club, tickets) and over at Hyde Park Picture House you can catch the talent-packed British Short Film Competition (Thu 21 Nov, tickets) on the closing day.
