When it moves to its new venue ‘Home’ along with The Library Theatre, the venue formerly known as Cornerhouse will become one of the most diverse arts hubs in the city. It’s been a mecca for arthouse film and contemporary art obsessives for donkey’s years, but even before it adds theatre to the mix it’s added a comedy night to its line up. Every other Sunday Top Drawer Comedy provides a mellow way to wind down from a boozy weekend with laughs from pro acts. The club’s run by Top Drawer Events – Ashley Boroda and John Locke, two movers and shakers of the comedy circuit. Together they’ve programmed the nights with some of the finest acts from the local circuit and beyond. The first, this Sunday, features anarchic juggling from Steve Royle, unhinged tap dancing from Susan Vale and herbal observations from Des Sharples. Future Sundays will showcase the talents of tremendous character comic Keith Carter and the hairiest funnyman on the circuit, Martin Mor.
