Everyone grew up with a kid who claimed that board games were named as such because they make you bored. In fact, maybe you were that kid – and if you were, we at Manchester Wire are still angry at the amount of games of Scrabble you ruined for us. Anyway, Fuel are taking it up a notch from those MB games, Monopoly & co. games with Mylo’s Tabletop Takeover. Held on the first and third Sunday of the month in their upstairs room, they leave Frustration, Mouse Trap and Boggle at home, and come equipped with mammoth board games that utterly engulf you – Catan, Arkham Horror and King of Tokyo are all promised, but for this opening session they’re playing the official Game of Thrones game – walkthrough as to how to play and win below. If you don’t fancy spending your entire day upstairs, fretting of the roll of a dice, there will be smaller sessions going on, too. There are food and drinks offers for players – though we can’t promise that there won’t be drama, unlikely alliances and falling outs over the course of the afternoon.

Sun 21 Jul, Fuel Cafe Bar, 448 Wilmslow Road, M20 3BW, 1pm start, runs until 7pm, FREE, email tabletoptakeover@gmail.com to reserve your place at the centrepiece game, @fuelcafebar
