Adapted for the stage by BAFTA Award-winning playwright Roy WIlliams, Michael Rosen’s Unexpected Twist delightfully reimagines a Charles Dickens classic in a gleefully exciting family-friendly metadrama from Tue 2 May – Sun 7 May at The Lowry.

While she and her class are studying Oliver Twist, Shona – a well-intentioned new girl who seems to attract trouble in similar ways to the titular character – receives a new phone from a stranger. Soon, she begins to suspect there’s something amiss with the new boys she’s met.

Rendered with thrilling exuberance by The Children’s Theatre Partnership, whose adaptations have included Animal Farm, Holes and The Jungle Book, Unexpected Twist provides a unique children’s story from award-winning playwright Roy Williams set to a mesmerising beatbox soundtrack by R&B star Yaya Bey and BAC Beatbox Academy’s Conrad Murray.
