More than a decade on from Grammy nominations, Vanessa Carlton visits the jazz and soul auditorium at Band on the Wall. Rather than falling through the music industry cracks as a one-hit-wonder with the instantly recognisable A Thousand Miles, Carlton’s song crafting skills have matured from those early tinkles on the ivories, with last year’s fifth LP, Liberman, testament to her enduring ability to capture hearts and minds through music. Now a more complete article than in the days of her prodigious stardom, Carlton’s dulcet tones are both escapist and eye-opening.
