Promising an evening that will ‘get your foot tapping and your soul smiling’, Ríoghnach Connolly and Honeyfeet bring their singular brand of musical poetry to the mystifyingly beautiful Victoria Baths on Sat 15 Apr, as one of the starring shows of SpringFest 2023.
Performing from 7pm-11pm, Ríoghnach Connolly and Honeyfeet present a blend of genres which span a sweeping musical vista, from the bountiful to the subtle, with influences including protest songs, big-band swing, Alabama Blues-tinged folk and dance rhythms, producing a distinct, ingenious sound complimented flawlessly by Connolly’s powerful flute and ‘sublime’ vocals.
Playing the opening slot with an eclectic mix of ska-punk, reggae, disco, folk and rock, beloved Mancunian party-starters The Galivantes set the mood with an up-tempo set full of lively tunes which has established the eight-piece ensemble as a high-energy favourite on the festival circuit.
Part of Victoria Baths’ SpringFest 2023, the current BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year and her companion players headline a day that begins with art exhibitions, family-friendly entertainment and guided tours. A selection of irresistible street food including bao buns from Dim Sum Su, sourdough pizza from Urban Crust and a blissfully well-stocked bar serving beers, wines and soft drinks will be your accompaniment whether you join for the day or night.
Victoria Baths Presents Ríoghnach Connolly and Honeyfeet is the first onsite gig produced by Victoria Baths Trust, which oversees the care of the Grade II*-listed building for its continued use as a priceless cultural venue.
Tickets for the performance are £20 (plus booking fee) and can be booked here. This is an over 18s event. Doors open at 7pm and close at 11pm.
