HOME, taking up the baton from Cornerhouse without breaking step, is set to continue ¡Viva!, the Spanish and Latin American film festival. Starting Thursday 18 June, the event will focus on the best new cinema from Mexico. Kicking off the five-day festival is En El Ultimo Trago (One More for the Road, pictured), a road trip movie about three octogenarians. The film’s director, Jack Zagha Kababie, will be in attendance to introduce the film. Mexico’s race, class, and gender issues will be explored in Hilda, a tense drama with some black comedy thrown into the mix. The festival concludes with the new-wave drama Güeros, which deals with the student unrest in the capital in 1999. Non-Spanish speakers need not fear, as all the films are subtitled unless stated otherwise. For full listings, check the out the link to the full programme below.
