A few months short of her 80th birthday and fit again after a heart attack last year, Vanessa Redgrave, one of the legends of British theatre, joins Chetham’s Sinfonia, its Chamber Choir and composer Laura Rossi for a poignant performance linked to the centenary of the First World War. She contributes narration to Rossi’s orchestral and choral work, inspired by ten of the most famous poems from the conflict. Stephen Threlfall conducts a programme that also festures works by Saint-Saens and Elgar.
