2011 was the year that music fans said goodbye to New York’s disco-indie pioneers, LCD Soundsystem. But the story didn’t end there. The release of live documentary Shut Up And Play The Hits earlier this year gave viewers the chance to witness the band’s climactic bowing out at their last ever show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. And now there’s more, with a screening of the full concert film (nearly four hours in length), which has only been shown in the UK at London’s Fabric to date. Deliciously filmed by cult director Spike Jonze and cinematographer Yorick Le Saux (I Am Love, Swimming Pool) and friends, the film documents James Murphy and co playing everything from I’m Losing My Edge to Drunk Girls and Daft Punk covers with guest appearances from Arcade Fire, Hot Chip, Soulwax and friends. A more immersive experience than most films, a few seats will be left in at the back, with full PA and smoke machines set to max in Gorilla’s club space.
