The Deaf Institute welcomes Watter, featuring members of American experimental rock bands Slint and Grails, later this month. Multi-instrumentalists Zak Riles (Grails) and Tyler Trotter are anchored by drummer Britt Walford (Slint and Evergreen) in the band – the former’s first new project in 20 years. Watter released their debut album This World last May on Temporary Residence, home to Explosions in the Sky, Mono and Pinback. Main support comes from Holy Sons – the longest-standing musical project of Portlander Emil Amos, also of Grails. And Amos is in for a busy night, as he will also combine with Alex Hall to open with their band, another Temporary Residence band, Lilacs & Champagne.
