Canadian company Mammalian Diving Reflex have let teenagers loose on the streets of Salford – but it’s OK, because it’s all in the name of art. Working with local schools, Teentalitarianism is a series of “social-specific” interventions inviting adults to see how barriers might be breached if young people ruled the roost. Part of The Lowry’s Week 53 Festival, there are three paths to choose – which journey will you go on? First up, Nightwalks With Teenagers (18, 19 and 20 May at 8.30pm) does what it says on the tin – teens and adults wander about the city after dark to create a unique social experience exploring places and spaces otherwise unshared. Next, Sex, Drugs & Criminality on 19 May brings the watershed forward to 6pm as the “young operatives” quiz famous artists on mature themes to generate a frank discussion. Warning: audience participation is on the cards. Finally, Dare Night on 26 May (8pm) challenges the audience to breach the unspoken laws of etiquette with a very public virtual game of spin the bottle with a House Party recreation. In two minds about signing up? Go on – we dare you. Read more about Week 53 Festival in our round up here.
