Didsbury Good Neighbours (DGN) are a brilliant charity whose main aim is to support senior members of the community through a volunteer befriending service and a diverse and vibrant programme of weekly activities. Some of these weekly activities include coffee mornings, lunch clubs, men’s groups, art and craft clubs – the list goes on!
During these tough times following the pandemic, DGN also offers help and support for older people with telephone befriending, queries or concerns, shopping, errands, small DIY jobs, gardening, digital drop-in sessions and many more!
DGN proudly provides opportunities for local people to volunteer and get involved in all their impressive work. Their ethos revolves around the belief that volunteers can benefit just as much as the people they are working to support as it furthers the engagement and connection within the local community.
Whether you fancy starting a fundraiser, becoming an ‘As and When’ volunteer, get on board with the brilliant befriending service or help out with one of the many weekly activities, with their range of volunteering opportunities, there is a role to suit each volunteer’s availability, commitment and preference.
If that’s not enough, just next door resides The Holt Pavilion café – the charity’s non-profit sister organisation. Selling home-baked goods and supporting local businesses with even a small craft stall in the back selling prints, handmade creations and donated items – it’s the perfect parkside place to pop in for a good cup of coffee after some volunteering.
