Celebrating the best in science imaging talent and highlighting the world’s wonders in microscopic detail, the winning entries of the Wellcome Image Awards 2014 will be on display at the Museum of Science and Industry for the next six months. The fascinating and visually striking photographs – ranging from the surprisingly beautiful magnified image of a head louse egg to the less obscure but equally stunning cross-section of a flower bud – invite and encourage visitors to take a fresh look at the world around them. Wellcome Images, the home of more than 180,000 of the world’s images of medicine and its history, selected the 18 winners from the thousands of images acquired for the Wellcome Images collection. The images present a truly magnificent display of the intricacy and magnificence of the natural and scientific world.
