Composer and performance pianist Michael Finnissy will be leading a rare recital for the afterwork audience. Influential on the new generation of British composers, he’s currently Professor of composition at Southampton University. His music is characterised by the use of opposites in terms of speed and other aspects, yet his work strays from the purely aesthetic, often shifting into politically engaged territory. Listen to Etched Bright with Sunlight from his cycle for solo piano, The History of Photography in Sound.
