To mark the release of the documentary film Room 237 and the digitally remastered version of The Shining, there’s a special double bill of Stanley Kubrick’s horror masterpiece alongside this acclaimed documentary about the conspiracy theories relating to different interpretations of the film. Is, for example, the film an apology for the alleged “staging” of the US moon landings, a holocaust metaphor or a parable about the massacre of native Americans? Room 237 delves into these theories using clips, animation and voice-over. In the recently restored Art Deco cinema, this event also offers a glance of the full US version of The Shining, 24 minutes longer than any previous version seen in the UK.
