A little over a year ago, promoters Will Not Be Televised began their onslaught on the Manchester hip hop scene with weekly sessions in Fallowfield – bigger gigs soon followed, not least the coup of Jeru the Damaja at Antwerp Mansion. To celebrate a year of shows from the likes of Pharaohe Monch, Akil (Jurassic 5) and Jehst, as well as co-ordinating the recent Lord Finesse tour, WNBT bring back Jeru for another seasonal date. Hailing from New York, Jeru is closely affiliated with the mighty Gang Starr and is best known for one of the defining golden-era hip hop LPs, 1994’s The Sun Rises In The East, which contributed to a resurgence in East Coast rap in the mid-1990s. Support comes from one of the UK’s best, Nottingham rapper Cappo, Harpurhey hero Shotty Horroh, Manchester’s next-gen super crew Ape Cult and Will Not Be Televised resident Konny Kon. The event will be hosted by the inimitable Fox (HotMilk, The Eyes) plus Dayse and Bill Sykes of the Natural Curriculum.
