Salford’s feted festival of new music, Sounds from the Other City, breaks from its May bank holiday slot to present something special for Bonfire night. Sending the festival concept into “orbit”, this event will see the audience taken on a journey of seven parts. Live performances in venues such as Islington mill, St Philips Church and The Old Pint Pot include DFA Record’s Planningtorock (check her last album, W, here), Guardian’s faves, Yola Fatoush with sturm und drang from local stars Gnod, N Racker and Queer’d Science. The event will be hosted by rising performance art dames, the Volkov Commanders (pictured). Expect wild costumes, flames and dancing on this journey through sound and space.

Sun 4 Nov, Islington Mill, St Philips Church and The Old Pint Pot, 4pm-midnight (last entry @ 5pm), £10/£12.50, www.skiddle.com
