Where Love Lives, a new show about self-discovery amidst the heart of 90s clubland, comes to The Edge this week.
It’s 1991, 18-year-old Cath is self-conscious about her weight during the era of ‘heroin chic’, an over-thinker, and a people pleaser who feels like she doesn’t fit in. Cath is also about to discover the euphoria of the clubbing scene, the joyous camaraderie of the dancefloor and the buzz of ecstasy.
Simultaneously, Cath is soon to face the darker side of drug taking that comes with the highs, and the reality of where the obsession with her weight might lead her.
A poignant story of self-discovery, this one-woman show is written by Ellen Taylor, who has been on the Coronation Street writing team for fifteen years. Ellen has been nominated for an RTS North West Writers award, and one of her episodes was nominated for BAFTA ‘Moment of the Year’ in 2019.
Elsewhere, Ellen’s impressive credits list includes Sandition, The Musketeers and Waterloo Road. She also wrote, produced and storylined BBC’s Casualty, winning a BAFTA for best series in 2007, was lead writer on Sky’s Dream Team series 7 & 8, and produced the comedy drama Accidental Farmer starring Ashley Jensen for BBC Comedy.
