Providing a temporary art fix until it re-opens its doors in the autumn, Whitworth Art Gallery continues its pub-crawl-with-a-difference this Sunday as it pops down to neighbouring drinking hole, Big Hands, for a ‘music knit hack’. This week, artist and videosmith Sam Meech (smeech.co.uk) combines his talents with Marie Young and Iris Cooper for an ambient textile experiment to bring art, music and knitting together. Using live music and sound samples – via a Tenori-on  – alongside a laptop and hacked knitting machines, the experiment will work to create parallels between electronic sequencing and knitted digital image. Mixing several different formats and art forms in front of a live audience, this is almost certainly one of the most creative pub crawls you’ll probably ever go on.
