Whitworth Art Gallery is never one to shy away from exciting and exclusive events but the end of the month sees the gallery host one of its biggest yet as it takes one final bow before closing its doors for the first time in its 120 year history. Taking time out to finish building work on a new gallery in the neighbouring park (pictured), the Whitworth will host a celebratory weekend of unusual events and, of course, extraordinary art before its bids farewell until early 2014. For three days, Whitworth Park will be transformed with the likes of DIY arts and live music, while headliners include Acid Brass on Friday, a light and fire show spectacle on Saturday and Six White Horses, an enchanting new work by Nick Crowe and Ian Rawlinson. With plenty to see and do across each day, this is the perfect opportunity to take in the gallery in its original form for the last time before it unveils its new look next year.
