Parisian panache meets industrial chic in Salford Quays as Cafe Rouge’s refreshed decor pays homage to the area’s best loved painter, LS Lowry. Combining the histories of both its well known French bistro branding and its location next to the Lowry, the renewed Cafe Rouge has got a new, artistic look. You can now dine in the company of an eye-catching mural inspired by the work of Lowry as well as famous French artists from days gone by. And its not just the interior that’s feeling the love either. The francophone influence remains strong across its updated menu, which keeps a keen eye on new trends as well as serving the ‘best of the best’, drawn from Cafe Rouge’s three decades at the heart of Britain’s dining scene. We like the sound of new dishes like spiced merguez-sausage baguette and seabass en papillote which sees carefully sourced fish baked in parchment with leeks, piperade and a lobster and dill butter. There are plenty of Cafe Rouge classics to enjoy too, such as croque monsieur, demi poulet (half a roast chicken), and steak frites, followed by what other than creme brulee or chocolate fondant for pudding. For those popping corks, there’s a huge range of French wines and kids are well catered for with their own, new-look menu.
