The biggest names in the alternative music scene are set to descend on Salford for an action-packed Fat Out Fest weekend in April at Islington Mill. Headline grabbers The Bug vs Dylan Carson of Earth are joined by Sheffield’s Blood Sport on the Friday, guest curated by Baba Yaga’s Hut. The intensity continues into Saturday with music journos The Quietus curating a bill including free jazz by Sly and The Dead Neanderthals ft. Colin Webster and 24-hour immersive drone promoters Basilica Hudson and Le Guess Who team up to expand your musical mind. Other slots feature the bombast of Part Chimp and Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs and the synths of Group A, while Sunday’s curtain closer amps things up as Supersonic Festival present The Seer. Body Eye. For Spirit Eye. There are chances to take a breather from the musical onslaught, with interviews by avant-garde mag The Wire, artist-led workshops and art installations rubbing shoulders with the finest selection of speciality foods this side of the Irwell, all under the creative vision of Brooklyn based collective CHERYL. Expect a weekend of cymbals smashing, hips gyrating, heads banging and eardrums thumping.
