Bringing an evening of seafaring adventure to Stockport in September is The Ocean Film Festival World Tour. Now in its fifth year, the event has become a popular fixture at the town’s Plaza Cinema. Presented will be a brand-new selection of films about the many kinds of people who live for the sea. Standouts include ‘Kiwi Breeze’, which tells the story of a London-based New Zealander who spent nine years building a yacht in his back garden. His first obstacle is to get the 44-foot boat from a suburban street to the London docks, and then comes the even trickier 15,000-mile journey back to his homeland. ‘Touched by the Ocean’ follows two Latvian friends with a second-hand rowing boat, no rowing experience, and a grand plan: to become the first team ever to row from Namibia to Brazil. ‘The Big Wave Project’ centres on a crew of leading surfers as they attempt the sport’s greatest challenge: riding the world’s biggest wave. To be in with a chance of winning two tickets to the film tour at The Plaza, simply enter your details into the form below. Deadline for entries is midnight on Tuesday 31 July and the winner will be announced by email and Twitter the following day.
