This weekend, the city centre plays host to A Carefully Planned Festival, offering aficionados and the musically curious a chance to dig deep into the best new alternative sounds. Highlights of the programme, which runs Saturday and Sunday, include Brighton’s math-rock/experimental exports Physics House Band, acid-tinged guitar maverick Denis Jones and the aptly self-described ‘beats, bleeps, lush vocals + f**ked guitars’ of From the Kites of San Quentin. These are joined by Leeds noise stalwarts That Fucking Tank (pictured) as well as sets from Kiran Leonard, Golden Fable, Merz and a hundred (!) more. Immerse yourself in new music at The Castle, Bakerie, Soup Kitchen and Gullivers among others, for this truly Northern Quarter thing. To be in with a chance of winning a pair of weekend passes, please answer the question below an email to info at manchesterwire dot co dot uk.
