If the words ‘dinner party’ conjure images of a dip selection and dubious-looking prawn cocktail, it may be time to look for a more sophisticated affair, such as Disappearing Dining Club. The fabled late-night dinner-dance parties return to Manchester, following a brief flirtation last year, over three nights during July and August. The brainchild of bar and restaurant veteran Stuart Langley, Dinner Dance MCR brings together a five-course meal with unusual surroundings. Previous locations include a lighthouse and launderette, with secrecy maintained until one week before the event. Previous events have included the likes of smoked duck breast and celeriac remoulade, with an inspired selection of wines, craft lagers and cocktails. With resident DJ Danny Whitehead (Mambo) and special guest DJs providing music until late, in the immortal words of Simon Pegg from the 1990s comedy show Spaced, ‘there’ll be a time for dips…but this is not it’. We couldn’t agree more. The ticket price includes a Grey Goose Vodka cocktail, five-course dinner, music and late-night party. To be in with a chance of winning two tickets to Disappearing Dining Club, simply email competitions at Manchesterwire dot co dot uk with ‘Disappearing Dining Club’ in the subject line by Wednesday 9 July. Please include your name, age, Twitter handle and phone number.
