With a three-day weekend up ahead, Band on the Wall has prepared a stellar headlining show for kaleidoscopic dub duo Sherwood & Pinch. Their debut LP as a collaborating pair, Late Night Endless, released in February, offers a taste of the bewitching beats and smoky bassline throbs you can expect to hear shimmering through the legendary music venue’s main room. The two-year long project has melded the musical powers of two seasoned veterans of the dub genre. Adrian Sherwood found his feet producing tunes for the On-U Sound collective in the 1980s soon becoming prolific and rubbing shoulders with everyone from The Clash to PiL, while remixing a range of recordings by everyone from Air to Nine Inch Nails. Combining with Tectonic label founder Pinch has heralded mind expanding results, splicing elements of drum and bass as well as trip hop and dubstep. And with vocals sampled by the likes of Daddy Freddy, Congo Natty, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Prince Far I and Andy Fairley, Sherwood & Pinch’s floor-filling limb looseners have a substantial supporting cast.
