Iain Ballamy, one of modern jazz music’s most celebrated figures, is set to perform at the RNCM this week.

Listed between Count Basie and Chet Baker in the BBC’s publication 100 Jazz Greats, Iain Ballamy has spent over three decades transcending musical genres, blending strong jazz and classical influences while remaining unbound by formality and tradition.

The renowned saxophonist has collaborated with RNCM’s own Big Band, providing students with the unique and priceless opportunity to develop their own artistic identity while exploring the endless possibilities of jazz and improvisation.

The evening’s programme will feature newly composed music by Ballamy, created specifically for this performance, alongside fresh arrangements of his most celebrated works, including ll Men Amen (from All Men Amen) and Of All The Things (from Anorak).

The concert will also showcase brand-new compositions from RNCM students, which have been developed, shaped and inspired by Ballamy’s unique approach.

Iain Ballamy performs at the RNCM on Thu 26 Jun. Tickets are on sale now, book yours using the button below.
