Hot off a launch featuring the world première of Laura Rossi’s Carpe Vitam, new Stoller Hall series This Woman’s Work celebrates the vital role of women in music – as performers, teachers, learners and composers. Picking up the reins in the new year, the project centres around International Women’s Day on 8 March, when the all-female Albany Piano Trio performs works by Sadie Koninsky, Nicola LeFanu (also joining in a discussion on women and composition the previous evening) and Emma-Ruth Richards with a brand-new commission, while the RNCM Songsters perform a selection of Clara Schumann’s most celebrated vocal pieces. This showcase is preceded by The Gould Piano Trio performing Sally Beamish’s Piobaireachd on 22 January, then March sees a masterclass with Sally. Meanwhile, May takes in two concerts featuring the Northern Chamber Orchestra: the first welcoming Martin Roscoe on piano, the second with direction from NCO Artist in Association, violinist Chloë Hanslip.
