Pretty soon, we’re all going to get to decide if we want to stay in the EU. One issue which could swing the vote is how well we do at Eurovision this May. If we get ‘nul points’ – we’re leaving. So that’s all the more reason to go Chorlton Irish Club on the night of the big contest for ‘You’re a Vision’ (geddit?). At this unabashed celebration of the ultimate guilty pleasure, there will be a giant screen showing all the action from this year’s host nation, Sweden. A whopping 43 countries are taking part (including Australia for some reason), but don’t worry: the cheap bar and Euro-themed cocktails will help the night fly by. To further get you into the mood, wearing fancy dress and national costumes is encouraged. There will also be some appropriately cheesy activities, including sweepstakes, quizzes, and a tombola. The celebrations will carry on into the night with an after party featuring DJs and special guests.
Sat 14 May, Chorlton Irish Club, 17 High Lane, Chorlton, Manchester M21 9DJ, 7pm – 1.30am, £8 (early bird), www.eventbrite.co.uk
