For two nights in late October, Rob Newman is performing his New Theory of Evolution show at the Lowry. This is Newman’s first full stand-up show in seven years, having been concentrating on journalism and novel writing. Never one to keep his ambitions in check, with this show Newman takes aim at Charles Darwin. Don’t worry, he hasn’t become a creationist; he outlines that much of life on Earth is based on co-operation, not competition. It may sound like a radical departure from his usual subject matter, but one imagines his real targets are the social Darwinists at the top of the financial food chain. Tickets are selling fast, so book soon.
