Located above the Deansgate pub, 3twentyone is a new smokehouse serving locally sourced meat and fish. General Manager Edward Lowe tells us that the menu will be comprised of southern US-style food ‘with a Manchester twist’. Examples include a sharing platter called The Mancunian Way comprised of fine regional meats smoked on site. There is also talk of ‘cold smoking’ local cheeses while on the drinks menu gin cocktails will be joined by US and UK ales and beers. With a deliciously sunny central terrace, the roof garden offers the chance to enjoy classic drinks ‘done really well’, Mr Lowe says, while indoors is all about Manc-Victoriana mixed up with the Deep South as booths, polished wood and brass contribute to a Prohibition-era vibe. With Lowe having earned his stripes at Living Ventures (Alchemist, The Grill on The … chain) as well as Socio Rehab (the former incarnation of Luck Lust, Liquor and Burn), drinks are likely to be a strength. Look out for a review after this weekend’s launch party.
