A new interactive experience will immerse guests in a world of 1980s video games at Lowry.
ARCADE is an interactive, choose-your-own-path experience that takes place in the complete darkness of a shipping container. Using cutting-edge 360-degree binaural sound and sensory effects, each player will be fully immersed in a nostalgic world of gaming and invited to guide their own avatar through a world ravaged by endless war using a bespoke arcade machine.
Players will be asked deep existential questions about free will and consciousness in a world where some may win and some may lose. With multiple different outcomes potentially playing out, every decision will define a unique journey for each participant. Choose a side, win or lose the war, search out a more peaceful route or even join a cult promising a better version of reality.
ARCADE is the brainchild of the acclaimed DARKFIELD, an award-winning organisation renowned for blending cutting-edge technology with innovative theatre experiences.
Part of an exciting DARKFIELD collaboration across three venues featuring three critically acclaimed immersive experiences: ARCADE at Lowry, FLIGHT at Aviva Studios, and SÉANCE at HOME Manchester. The tour has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
