Scotland’s annual celebration of national bard Robert Burns returns this weekend, and Manchester, as ever, will be getting in on the festivities. From Michelin-starred restaurant collaborations to traditional Scottish snacks and vinyl, here are the best Burns Night celebrations happening across the city this weekend.
10 Tib Lane will be stretching its celebrations out across the weekend, with its Burns Night offering available from Friday. There’ll be a handful of limited-edition cocktails, including the Scotch Coffee, which blends Salted Scotch Whisky, coffee and shortbread cream, and special dishes, like Atlantic Sea trout & beetroot terrine.

Reddish Ale has become one of our favourite Stockport boozers, and its Burns Nights festivities are looking ace. From 2pm, you’ll be able to tuck into a variety of small plates inspired by traditional Scottish dishes, a perfect accompaniment to beers from Loch Lomond Brewery. Then, from 3pm, Dan from Magic Island DJs will be spinning Scottish vinyl.

Edinburgh’ Michelin-starred Timberyard returnS to Higher Ground to celebrate Burns Night over an exclusive collaborative menu. Expect traditional Burns Supper dishes, a wine list curated by Jo Radford featuring special bottles from Timberyard’s legendary cellar, a fiddle player in the dining room and plenty of whisky. The one-off food menu is priced at £95pp.

Paying homage in its own unique way, Dishoom’s Haggis Pau breakfast will be available until Sun 15 Feb. Featuring richly spiced pork haggis, hot buttered buns, fried eggs, crisp Carluke’s bacon and honeyed chilli chutney, it sounds pretty spectacular.

Available both Saturday and Sunday, Browns will be cooking up smoked salmon with capers and rye bread, haggis, neeps & tatties, and Cranachan to finish. You can get two courses for £26, or three for £32. Three whisky pairings can be added for £15, too.

Winsome, the latest project from the excellent Chef Shaun Moffat, is offering a 5-course Burns Night tasting menu for £75pp. Dishes include oysters & beetroot with whisky chasers, Abroath smokie & clapshot, and Irn-Bru pastilles. An optional whisky pairing flight is available for an additional £45.
