Astronomy and art collide as Jodrell Bank unveils a season of cosmic theatre headed to the iconic landmark over the next few months.
From Martian invasions to retellings of ancient myths about the moon, the UNESCO World Heritage site will host a series of spell-binding stories.
On Fri 8 May, audiences are invited into the heart of one of the most iconic sci-fi stories ever written, as H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds is reimagined as a gripping solo performance by storyteller Gav Cross.
Delivered in the intimate style of a Victorian parlour reading, Cross’s distinctive, bombastic storytelling thrusts audiences into the terror and urgency of a world in chaos, facing the unstoppable force of a Martian invasion. The show features an original, atmospheric soundtrack by Chris Bastock, co-artistic director of A Place for Us.

Looking ahead to summer, the internationally award-winning Wright&Grainger (HELIOS, ORPHEUS, THE GODS THE GODS THE GODS) presents its latest show, SELENE, on Sat 27 Jun.
Delivered by a solo storyteller against an epic, electronic score, SELENE is a story about ‘the light sides of us, the dark sides of us, and the things we grow up in the orbit of.’ Both shows are brought to Jodrell in collaboration with Cheshire Rural Touring Arts.
“This company truly are the best at storytelling” (Three Weeks for HELIOS, sibling show to SELENE).
