Newly opened on Lever Street, the two-floor Latin barbacoa restaurant and bar Dahlia Stereo is set to stage a season of exceptional DJ sessions throughout autumn and winter, pairing a fire-led kitchen with a bespoke Hatchett Sound system and a programme of skilled selectors.
The series gets underway tomorrow, Thu 24 Sep, with acclaimed broadcaster, DJ and label boss Jamz Supernova joining Strategy for an intimate LP launch at The Hive. The unmissable evening offers a chance to catch the renowned underground tastemaker in closer quarters than her usual dancefloor surroundings, with Dahlia’s immense sound system providing a suitably immersive atmosphere. The programme continues on Sat 26 Sep with the inclusive, community-focused dance bash Wicked Can’t Run, featuring Sarah Sweeney, Lil’ Minx, Miss Jackson and Timo-G, followed by a Quantic DJ set on Thu 1 Oct and Salsa sensation Gia Fu’s Manchester debut on Thu 15 Oct.
Halloween sees Coco María take over the decks, with Somewhere Soul following on Thu 12 Nov and DJ Die on Thu 19 Nov. The run continues into the festive season with Dam Swindle’s album tour landing at Dahlia Stereo on Thu 3 Dec.
Devised as a connected, personal evening hangout, Dahlia Stereo’s unique appeal extends far beyond the music. The barbacoa menu takes its cues from campfire cooking across Latin America and the southern states of America, with tortillas, churrasco steak, sea bass ceviche and more, alongside an extensive drinks menu served throughout the night.
With its combination of serious sound, authentic cooking and a steady run of established and emerging selectors, Dahlia Stereo is continuing its blistering inauguration as an unmissable new fixture in the Northern Quarter’s cultural landscape.
