At the moment, most people thinking what Jesus would do in certain situations seem to be getting thing wrong, so Luisa Omielan has decided to focus upon another deity for spiritual guidance. Living life by the lyrics of Mrs Carter provide the backbone for Luisa’s brilliantly reviewed show, which also gathered great praise at Edinburgh. A sell out at London’s Soho Theatre three times, this is a must see show that may have you questioning the way you live your life.

Rob Newman | The Lowry | Sat 16 & Sun 17 Nov | 8pm | £12
Taking the baton held out by Charles Darwin and running with it, Newman brings his ‘New Theory of Evolution’ to Salford, having already wowed crowds at Gorilla back in June with his belief that cooperation outweighs competition in our quest to evolve as a species. A cerebral comedian, Newman achieves that tricky concept of being intelligent and funny. Informative and incendiary, this show is not to be missed.

Post-modern comedy from a 22-year-old may not sound like the most appetising of comedy meals, but stick with Bo Burnham as he peppers his seemingly day-glo American teen vlogger schtick with a great deal of venom. Wet Feet Who Special | Lass O’Gowrie | Sun 17 Nov | FREE
John Cooper (sometimes known as Danny Pensive) has been taking people on a nautical comedy voyage for the last few months with six acts and the invigorating ‘walk the plank’ section where an established comic is given a subject by the audience and must make up a routine on the spot. Almost the opposite of a gong show, this Sunday is a Doctor Who special. We’re not entirely sure what that means but, given how big of a fan John Cooper is of the show that turns 50 this week, it is sure to be quite the spectacle.
