Now a staple in Manchester’s music calendar, Sounds From The Other City celebrates its 10th birthday next year – and to mark the occasion, it’s winding back the years with limited tickets available for their original price of £6. Hosting its first event in 2003, the annual one-day spectacular has become the place to catch some of the most promising new talent on the rise, with SFTOC alumni including Alt-J, Marina and the Diamonds, Sampha and, this year, Deptford Goth and Stealing Sheep, all selected by the city’s finest promoters (Now Wave, Faktion and Fat Out to name a few). Welcoming over 2,000 partygoers into the churches, galleries, cafes, station platforms and telephone boxes of Salford’s historic Chapel Street, Sounds offers more than your usual gig setting – being just as much about the surroundings as it is the music. Next year’s event will also see the return of the Volkov Commanders art performance collective, promising even more street food and weird and wonderful venues. And you can join in the celebrations and be a part of it for 2003’s original price of just £6. That’s right: £6. The offer starts today from 5pm today with limited availability – get there quick or miss out.

Sun 4 May 2014, various venues around Chapel Street, Salford, 2pm – late, ltd earlybird £6 (from Wed 4 Dec at 5pm), then £18, www.soundsfromtheothercity.com
