All Our Friends Are Dead | The Lowry | Tue 28 Jan | 9.30pm | £8
Katie Norris and Sinead Parker continue their run of successful shows after great performances at the Edinburgh Fringe, the inaugural Women in Comedy Festival and Sham Bodie, by becoming the first sketch comedy show to be featured in the re:play festival at The Lowry. Their skits – mixing dark humour, emotional reality and spontaneous bouts of IRA tourettes – have rightly garnered them great praise. Tightly written and brilliantly performed, they now have a full band to back up their re-appropriated versions of Disney songs. If you can’t miss the Tuesday show then be sure to catch on them Thursday or Saturday. It really must be seen. See our full preview here.

Smug Roberts | The Pub/Zoo | Tue 28 Jan | 8pm | £5/3
Manchester comedy stalwart Smug Roberts takes to the stage at XS Malarkey’s new home to deliver his observations of the world around him. Always a solid performer who hits close to home with his material, Smug is a witty everyman spouting the universal truths that we all wish we thought of. Support comes from Emma Kearney, Beau Carter and Peter Brush, the latter being a must-see. Brush’s material is exceptionally written and at times brilliantly funny, and certainly one to keep an eye out for.

Comedy at The Kings | The Kings Arms | Thu 30 Jan | 7.30pm | £5 (£3 in advance)
If you don’t like what’s on stage at this comedy night then it’s worth going for the cake. Priding themselves on their exceptional baking abilities as much as their stellar line-ups, this month they offer Tony Basnett, Kahn Johnson and Mike Milling, with King of Camp Jonathon Mayor holding it all together with an even mix of bitchiness and love. Come for the cake; stay for the comedy.

David Baddiel (pictured) | The Lowry | Fri 31 Jan | 8pm | £23
At last year’s Edinburgh Festival David Baddiel performed his first full-length stand-up show for 15 years. What could have been a complete misfire after such a stint away from the stage turned out to be one of the most highly rated and bizarrely moving shows of the festival. Baddiel talks about fame – hardly a new subject for comedians to attack, but with his longevity in the business and the highs and lows that he has faced, he has a lot of new insight into the world of flashbulbs and frivolity known as fame. Apparently Andrew Lloyd Webber can’t make the distinction between Baddiel and Ben Elton. Clearly he hasn’t been to either of their shows.
