The Pardoner’s Tale at Royal Exchange

Based on Geoffrey Chaucer’s story from The Canterbury Tales, The Pardoner’s Tale is a refreshing adaptation of an ancient plot. The meddlesome Pardoner is the focus of the story as he narrates the journey of three men on a path to kill Death and get rich. The wits behind the performance are the Tangere Arts Group, who have taken an old story and shaken it up, throwing in their own blend of music, murder and mayhem onto the stage. Lewis Gibson, the composer and adapter, has not only added live music to compliment the action, but also songs and sounds from everyday objects too. Such a mix promises to be an explosive stage performance while also swaying dangerously between action, comedy and the downright absurd.
