Manchester is actually crammed with classes, courses and talks. Eventbrite hosts a whole load of them. A selection of late March’s bounty includes courses in learning to paint, making your home more eco-friendly and basic bike maintenance for girls. Sure, its an eclectic mix, but aren’t we all?
1. Learn to paint at Manchester Central Library
This short painting course of just 45 minutes is ideal for those who fancy picking up a paintbrush but don’t know where to start. Focusing on watercolours and run by the ‘Society for All Artists’, there are two sessions, which will see you end up with a mounted watercolour painting in 45 minutes flat. And all for free!
Tue 24 Mar, Manchester Central Library, St Peters Square, Manchester M2 5PD. Tel: 0161 234 1983, 1-2pm or 2-3pm, FREE, booking required, www.eventbrite.co.uk
2. Bike Maintenance for Women (16+) at Tameside Circuit
This bargaintastic course is run by Transport for Greater Manchester and offers entry level information on keeping your bike in good condition as well as crucial practical demonstrations such as how to repair punctures and fix basic problems yourself. As any would-be cyclist know, it’s these issues that keep you off the road, so you’ll save money in the long run too. It’s a win-win situation.
Sun 29 Mar, Tameside Circuit, Richmond Street, Ashton Under Lyne, 9am-10.45am, FREE, booking required: www.eventbrite.co.uk
3. Make your home more energy efficient at Hulme Community Garden Centre
Eco-wiseheads, Carbon Co-op, will be based at Hulme Community Garden Centre’s Straw-bale Classroom this Saturday for a day of fun and environment-saving education. There will be a mixture of drop-in talks alongside advice and demonstrations on making your home more energy-efficient. Booking is recommended, but interested parties are welcome to pop along and see what’s happening. See you there.
Sat 28 Mar, 28 Old Birley Street, St. George’s, Manchester M15 5RG. Tel: 0161 227 8198, morning sessions available, FREE, booking recommended: www.eventbrite.co.uk
