Luis Troyano’s Bake Off Book Launch
Luis Troyano is looking to build on his five minutes of fame gained during 2014’s Bake Off series, in which he made it all the way to the final, by translating his experiences in the culinary spotlight into an anthology of tips and tricks for aspiring bakers. To mark the occasion of his first book, he’ll also be on hand to recount tales of choux and fruitcake, as well as signing your copy.

Africa in the World
The Pan African Movement has arranged a programme of talks and events aiming to establish a platform for seldom heard stories chronicling the lives of black people across the globe. Topics covered include workers’ rights, climate change, sustainability and history, tying in nicely with Black History Month as well as the 70th anniversary of the Pan African Congress of 1945.

Cider drinking, roadie reminiscing DJ Stuart Maconie has returned to print with his latest book, Pie at Night, and Urmston Booshop have organised the opportunity to meet the man in person as he recounts its pages’ anecdotes and social documentation of life in the North.

Immersive play, No Bed of Roses at People’s History Museum
This early-afternoon Living History performance of No Bed of Roses is a family friendly insight into the adaptations involved in migrating from the Caribbean to Manchester in the 1950s. Based on the anecdotes of three women who experienced it first hand, the character of Gabrielle guides the audience through her move to a new life.

International Salford Beer Festival
