Indian street food merchants Bundobust have taken the Leeds independent restaurant scene by storm, offering a mix of sub-continental snacks and curated craft beers. What started as a joint venture between Bradford’s The Sparrow Bier Café and Drighlington’s Prashad restaurant quickly became an award-winning institution, even scooping SIBA’s coveted Best Restaurant for Craft Beer gong. A move to Manchester has been a while coming, but they’ve finally announced the location of their new eatery, in amongst the new upmarket diners of Piccadilly. The new site, formerly occupied by a Chinese buffet, offers 4000 sq ft of dining space with a mixture of canteen-style seating and intimate booths, all underscored with the kind of drop lighting expected from a thoroughly modern restaurant. The menu boasts traditional South Indian and Gujarati snacks such as Vada Pav (a spiced potato patty) and Masalla Dosa (a kind of Indian pancake). Also on the menu is their famous Bundo Chaat, a special-recipe samosa served cold. Although they’ll be stocking a lot of beers made popular by their Leeds restaurant, they’ve also made room for Mancunian brews, with a range of taps from local breweries on offer, including the Cloudwater Brewing Co.
