This Saturday, St. Ann’s Square and the surrounding streets will become the venue for Hazard 2016. A festival of contemporary performance, the event will feature works by a host of artists. It is a full afternoon of site-specific performances and all sorts of offbeat behaviour. Visitors can play ‘Human Mini Golf’, which instead of windmills for obstacles, has brave people in awkward poses. If you like hazardous track games, you should ignore your teacher’s advice and try ‘Running with Scissors’. Aiming to mix art with activism, some of the performances have a political bent. Rita Marcalo will present dances she created while working with the refugees in migrant camps in Calais. Sexcentenary, a collective of older women, aim to use humour and absurdism to make themselves seen. Hazard 2016 is free, and visitors can come and go as they please. Some performances run all afternoon, whereas others are on at specific times. Please see the website, below, for more details.
