Now in its third year, the Queer Media Festival moves to HOME with a diverse and inventive line-up that continues to pack in a smorgasbord of film and media delights aimed at uplifting LGBT stories for a media-savvy audience. Billed as a ‘celebration of media made by and for the queer community’, the day-long programme includes panel speakers from Channel 4, BBC, Gay Star News and UK Black Pride, while workshops will teach participants how to make 60 second short documentaries using just their smart phones. Film screenings include LGBT shorts curated by young people, the groundbreaking disco documentary Jewel’s Catch One, while the icing on the cake is arguably the showing of Strike A Pose (pictured), the documentary that follows the lives of Madonna’s iconic Blonde Ambition tour dancers, including live vogue performances and after-party with DJs from HomoElectric and Black Angel.
