Sarah Bennetto | Sandbar | Wed 10 May | 8pm | FREE
The Melbourne, erm, born storyteller Sarah Bennetto brings her charming and life affirming tales to Red Redmond’s Dead Cat Comedy at Sandbar this week for a free evening of comedy and more. Bennetto is a joy to listen to and her true life tales are both hilarious and poignant as she regails a rapt audience with her eventful existence in her delightful Aussie lilt. She tells the kind of stories you don’t want to end and for a ‘pay what you want’ night you may be keen to put a few extra bob in the bucket to keep her going.

Dana Alexander | Hope Mill Theatre | Fri 12 May | 8pm | £12.50
Canada has a rich history of churning out comedy legends and Dana Alexander is yet another example of this. She’ll be performing at Jason Manford’s behest as he curates another night of top comedy at the Hope Mill Theatre in Ancoats. Alongside Alexander you’ll find character comic Milo McCabe, hot prospect Mark Grimshaw and Manchester’s most reliable comedian Phil Ellis for a great alternative to the big club night line ups you’d usually find on a Saturday evening.

Comedy and Movie Night | Antwerp Mansion | Sun 14 May | 7.30pm | £2
The perfect solution for if a comedy night isn’t to your tastes is to go home and put on a classic film you know you’ll laugh out loud at. Although there’s no such fear of the former happening with a line up as tantalising as Phoenix Nights’ Steve Royle and rising star Kevin Caswell-Jones at Antwerp Mansion there is the added bonus of one of the funniest films of all time being screened straight afterwards. Not a bad shout for a headliner Roland Gent will be showing Will Ferrell’s Anchorman after you’re good and warmed up by the comics first.
