Have a rip-roaring bank holiday at Manchester’s favourite speakeasy, The Fitzgerald. The Northern Quarter’s live music venue and cocktail bar soundtracks your weekend with everything from acid jazz to disco, funk and soul – with a little dash of Great Gatsby glamour and entry is totally free. Lead into the weekend with their Wednesday open mic (24 May) followed by Thursday’s gin-fuelled Live at the Fitz (25 May). Celebrated duo, Jelly Sours, take to the stage with a smooth blend of jazz and blues. Then on Friday, resident DJ Emma Clair slams down an eclectic mix of electro swing, funk and disco (Bootleggin’ Beats, Fri 26 May) – expect table-dancing until the small hours. Whether you fancy yourself as a budding Jay Gatsby or Moulin Rouge bohemian, Saturday’s ‘Beautiful and Damned’ party (27 May) will crank up the speakeasy drinking den vibe. Top off the weekend with live music on Bank Holiday Sunday (28 May) alongside classics from DJ Miss D. It’s worth booking a table for the weekend so you don’t miss out on happy hour deals, with 2 for £10 on selected cocktails and 2 for £6 on beers (Thu all night, Fri & Sun 5pm–8pm, Sat 3pm–6pm). With fine drinks and merry mischief on offer all weekend, this Northern Quarter gem will have you boogie-ing like it’s 1925.
