Club night: The Get Down with DJ Andy Smith

One of the world’s finest selectors is back in Manchester for bank holiday weekend, hitting the dusky basement of the Northern Quarter’s Whiskey Jar for More Bounce’s The Get Down. DJ Andy Smith came to wider attention as part of Portishead, the man behind the samples on their landmark first album and its follow up before joining them as tour DJ. Following this, he released The Document, the first multi-genre mix album on a major label and a milestone collection of tunes for a generation of people widening their own music tastes. Andy will be spinning 45s of a variety of genres with soul as the nucleus.
