A colourful celebration of comic art will draw artists from across the world to the Lake District. The Lakes International Comic Art Festival features live draws, pictorial trails and plenty of free family fun. Scores of sharp-penned producers will feature, including a masterclass from MAD Magazine artist Tom Richmond, a revealing chat with Spider-Gwen artist Jason LaTour, a premier of new work from Mal Earl and Kermit ‘Black Grape’ Leveridge, and a very special visit from 2000AD and Justice League Dark writer Peter Milligan. Creative kids can enjoy the free Family Zone’s workshops and shows for all ages, and there’ll be fun distractions in the Brewery’s Cartoon Café and the Comics Clock Tower market. Fans of superheroes, satire or simply the Moomins will find plenty to see and do throughout the weekend – if you want a taster, pop to Friday’s Gala Opening Night where US cartooning superstars have frantic fun with Sergio Aragonés, a man considered the fastest comic artist on the planet.
