Room escape games are all the rage at the moment, and a brand new one coming soon to Manchester Museum has an educational twist. The Great Energy Escape, which is aimed at adults and children over eight, is set to be a half term highlight. The premise is this: The city’s electricity grid has gone down and you only have half an hour to reboot it. Entrenched in a control room from the 1970s, your team will have to transform the grid into a new, cleaner system. In an echo of current political issues, using compromise and collaboration you must keep the lights on whilst reducing emissions. Don’t worry: mad scientists may have left some clues for you to follow. The game was created by Energy Democracy Greater Manchester and Carbon Co-op, and is part of Manchester Science Festival. Booking is required, and you can book tickets via the website below.
Wed 25 – Sun 29 Oct, Manchester Museum, The University of Manchester, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9PL, 11am – 4.30pm, £1 min. charge per person, carbon.coop
