The Scar is a new, three-part film installation taking over Home’s main gallery space in February 2018. The exhibition is the first UK solo exhibition from Noor Afshan Mirza and Brad Butler. Inspired by a 1996 car crash in Turkey, Noor Afshan Mirza and Brad Butler’s version of events, sees this tragic event spirals into a surreal and political psychological drama. The film incorporates modern theoretical debates around gender and inequality into the noir-ish tendencies of gangster flicks. As such, the work contributes to the ongoing cultural conversation around patriarchy and masculinity. Mancunian spoken word and poetry collective, Young Identity, join the exhibition on its opening night (Fri 9 Feb) with their new spoken word piece inspired by the film.
